Yogyakarta presidential palace was originally the official residence of the Resident to-18 in Yogyakarta (1823-1825). He was a Dutchman named Anthonie Hendriks Smissaert, which also is the initiator or the initiator of the development of this great building.


This building was established in May 1824 in the Dutch colonial period. This originated from the desire of the "palace" is authoritative for the resident-Dutch residents.

"Kerak Telor" is one of original Betawi's traditional food (Jakarta).

"Kerak Telor" containing with the materials of white sticky rice, chicken egg, ebi (salted dried shrimp) is added dry roasted onions fried, then given a refined flavor of toasted coconut, red chilies, kencur, ginger, pepper grains, salt and sugar.

Now, is rarely we can find this food in their original place, Jakarta. So.. it's surprised we can find it in Yogyakarta...

Alun-alun Kidul is one of favorite place in Yogyakarta. Alun-alun Kidul is contain two words, there are Alun-alun in English is square, and Kidul (Javanese Language) mean south. Because the square is located on the south side of the Keraton Yogyakarta (The palace of Yogyakarta).

There is a myth in Alun-alun Kidul. Our desire will be answered if we could walk through between the trees with closed eyes from the north side square. Its looks easy, but you can believ or not, some people hard to walk through between the trees.

Allegedly, the myth is used to prevent colonial enter the Keraton area in the colonial period.

I am so sorry this pictures s not about Yogyakarta. But I think this is interesting mosque which I have found in Gajah Raya Street, Semarang City, Central Java.

The mosque is called "Mesjid Agung". There are few unique things you can find in this building. The giant umbrellas is same with Nabawi Mosque's umbrellas, only two same umbrella in the earth. About the tower, that have size 99 meters represent Asmaul Husna (Allah's Names).

In front of the umbrellas, there are 9 shower pond, represent 9 people who spreading moslem religion in Indonesia. Look the tower picture, you can see few piles. there are 25 piles make a half circle, represent 25 of moslem prophet.

28 October is oath youth day in Indonesia. The activities to celebrate oath youth day by Yogyakarta's students at Malioboro Street.



The idea of organizing the Second Youth Congress came from the Association of Indonesian Students Student (PPPI), a youth organization that consisted of students from all over Indonesia. PPPI initiative, the Congress held in three different buildings and divided in three meetings.

The first meeting, Saturday, October 27, 1928, in Building Katholieke Jongenlingen Bond (KJB), Lapangan Banteng. In his speech, Soegondo hoping Congress can strengthen the spirit of unity in the heart of the youth. The event was followed by Jamin Moehammad description of the meaning and relationship with the youth union. According to him, there are five factors that can strengthen the unity of Indonesia is the history, languages, customary law, education, and willingness.

The second meeting, Sunday, October 28, 1928, in Oost-Java House Bioscoop, discuss education issues. The second speaker, and Poernomowoelan Sarmidi Mangoensarkoro, agreed that children should be educated nation, must also have a balance between education at school and at home. Children also should be educated in a democratic way.

At the next session, Soenario explain the importance of nationalism and democracy in addition to scouting movement. While Ramelan argued, scouting movement can not be separated from the national movement. Scouting movement since the early educate children and self-discipline, the things needed in the struggle.

Before the congress closed played the song "Indonesia" by Wage Rudolf Supratman. The song was greeted with a very lively by the participants of the congress. Congress closed with the statement announcing the results of the congress. By the youth who were present, it is pronounced as formulations Pledge of Allegiance, reads:

Paper Balloon

Well, this is a unique tradition when I visited Blitar, East Java, last week.

Some people were busy preparing a paper balloon on the town square of Blitar, East Java, Sunday (20/09). Has become a tradition and entertainment for people to fly paper balloons after Idul Fitri pray. According to one of the people, Nunung (50), that tradition has been started since she was a child, or more than half a century ago until now. Paper balloons are made of wax paper and use the heat from the fire as a tool for the paper balloon fly.

TransJogja

TransJogja


















TransJogja is a bus rapid transport system, cheap and air-conditioned around Yogyakarta, Indonesia. TransJogja is one part of the application program Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) which proclaimed the Department of Transportation. This system began operation in early March 2008 by the Department of Transportation, the Provincial Government of Yogyakarta

Systems that use a bus (medium size) is implementing a closed system, meaning passengers can not enter the bus without going through the checkpoint, as well as TransJakarta.

In addition, the payment system implemented different: one-way tickets to students, and general tickets to subscribe. There are three types of tickets can be purchased by passengers, the fare one way (single trip), and general tickets to subscribe.

This ticket is different from regular bus ticket because they are a smart card. Tickets will be reviewed automatically by a machine that will open the door automatically. Passengers can change buses without having to pay additional fees, if still in one goal.

Pramex (Prambanan Express)

Pramex, Prambanan Express, is one of kind transportation which people usually use in Yogyakarta. Pramex serve the passenger with it route are Kutoarjo - Yogyakarta - Solo.

The train also stops at the station now Maguwo (Adisucipto Airport), as part of an integrated transportation system that connects Yogyakarta public land transportation (bus and taxi TransJogja), trains, and aircraft.
